What is Anemia? Diet and Treatment for Anemia
Anemia, the common symptoms includes weakness, paleness, lethargy, low blood pressure etc.If one is going through early stages of anemia then it can be treated with a certain diet changes as given below:
- Iron rich fruits like dark grapes, plums, strawberries,bananas, apples,raisins,apricots.
- Iron rich vegetables like celery, spinach, beets, green spring onions, carrots, radishes, yams, tomatoes.
- Protein rich foods like cottage cheese, milk, eggs.
- Iron rich foods like brown rice,honey, beans, whole wheat.
Avoid Foods Like:
- Soft drinks
- Processed and refined food items
- Coffee and tea
- Fried foods
- White flour
- Condiments and pickles
- Anemic people should avoid smoking, alcohol, caffeine intake etc as it inhibits iron absorption.
Natural Treatments Of Anemia:
Lemon are high in vitamin-C content which help in better absorption of Iron. So add juice equals to one lemon in tomato juice to increase the blood level.
Amla is a rich source of iron and vitamin C that increases the blood count.Drink half glass of amla juice with 2 teaspoons of honey to increase one red blood count.
Carrots are rich source of vitamin A, E, K, B1 and B6. Take one glass of carrot and spinach juice to improve haemoglobin level.
Fresh fenugreek is high in iron and helps in blood formation.Fenugreek when cooked helps in prevention of anaemia especially in young girls just reaching puberty.Fenugreek seeds helps in treating anaemia and can be taken as powder or in the form of sprouts.
Onion is a good remedy for anemia treatment as it is rich in minerals and vitamins like iron, thiamine, niacin, phosphorous, riboflavin, calcium and carotene.Taking two table spoons of honey and onion juice, twice daily can help improve haemoglobin levels.
Beetroot is an excellent source of vitamin B1,B2,P, potassium, copper etc.Ideally drink it’s juice or soup daily to increase blood count.
Drinking atleast eight tall glasses of water is advisable for someone suffering from anemia.
Banana are excellent natural remedy for curing anemia as bananas are rich in nutrients like B 12, Folic acid and Iron.It helps in reactivation and regeneration of red blood cells and helps in increasing immunity levels.
Spinach is rich in zinc, iron, proteins and magnesium, it makes spinach a number one herb to treat anemia.Spinach is a great energy provider and should be added in diet.Anemic should eat at least 150 grams of spinach daily to increase blood count.
